Clock DVA – Post-Sign (2013)

Clock DVANearly twenty years after Sign – their last release with Italian label, Contempo – Adi Newton finally presents the results of Clock DVA‘s studio sessions in Florence & Milan circa 1994/95 on Post-Sign.
The recordings were inspired by then-recently exposed details on the darker aspects of NASA’s Mercury project – implications of data gleaned from early Nazi research, classified UFO information, Masons, and so forth, all detailed in the accompanying booklet – and very neatly slips into that whole mid-’90s X-Files vibe, mixing classic sci-fi samples with sweeping digital synth sorcery and rippling electro-techno rhythms also recalling classic AI output of The Black Dog or Luke Slater’s 7th Plain.
Due to circumstantial events these recordings remained as primary bases for later development, intended as an instrumental companion album to ‘Sign’, similar in concept to the instrumental album ‘Digital Soundtracks’ Newton states “I felt that these recordings although unfinished represented a point in time that contained a series of emotions and…

….paradigms that these recordings capture, coming back to them after more than a decade I did not want to try and re work them, as those ideas and feelings have now developed to something new and rather letting them remaining in obscurity it would be more positive to release them in their original form , the drawings reveal the core, the latent intentions of form.
